Two Pens, One Principle

...the Iceberg Principle
Visually a BOMApen™ has a pure and modern form; unmarred by accumulated conventions. There are no bands, no buttons, no clips, no rings, no strangely out-of-place effigies of buildings, politicians or mountains. First impressions are it's a simple product—a deception that is clear once you touch the pen.

Pick up an INKLING® BOMApen™ and savor the sensation of Gravity slipping back into your life. They have a gyroscopic feel in the hand and almost act like they're magnetized to the ground. Of all the natural forces, Gravity is the only force intuitively ingrained into the foundation of our reality. We account for it so fluidly and automatically that it's completely invisible. The astonishing heft of a BOMApen drags Gravity back into your conscious world for your entertainment and meditation.

Their raw, unexpected mass is a delight and the first clue that something is afoot. What you have here is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. A gravitational touchstone. A BOMA talisman of good luck and positive influence. A playful wonder of metallurgy and technology designed to tease and delight.

A Lovely Write
Four design elements enhance the wonderful writing characteristics of BOMApens:
*BOMApens' exceptional heft give them a smooth, flowing feel in the hand.
*The pen's balance can be placed forward, back or to the middle.
*The tip design provides an unusually precise and crisp writing response.
*The finish provides a uniquely touchable surface that's both smooth and grippy.

Both BOMApen models are were available four ways (the D6 has sold out):
*Balance forward (titanium endcap, total pen weight: B5:58g, D6:84g)
*Balance centered (X–750 endcap, total pen weight: B5:63g; D6:90g)
*Balance back (tungsten endcap, total pen weight: B5:74g; D6:104g)
   *Multibalance set (all three endcaps)

BOMA
Bali's mythological BOMA graces every BOMApen™ (see below). He is a positive influence–frightful to evil spirits; playful and friendly to good ones. BOMA is an animist inclusion in Balinese Hinduism in the predominantly Muslim country of Indonesia. BOMA plays well with others.

Numbered, Limited Edition
BOMApens are individually micromachined and numbered by laser. Theoretically they're limited to a maximum of 8888 pens per model but this number has turned out to be rather fanciful since only three dozen of each model were made and there are no plans to make more anytime soon. The image above is a much magnified version of the inscription on each pen.

Customized Balance
A most unusual feature of BOMApens is that their balance can be moved by changing endcaps. Three different endcap materials, tungsten, alloy X–750 and titanium provide balances that are back in the hand, in the middle or forward. Each has a unique personality that must be felt to be understood (most pens in the world are back balanced).

Solid Tungsten Bodies
The bodies of Inkling BOMApens are machined in the USA from solid sintered bars of the element tungsten; a mind boggling material that is also extremely difficult to machine.

Sapphire Hard Finish
BOMApen bodies are surfaced with tungsten carbide. As a result its exterior is as hard as sapphire and has superb scratch and scuff resistance (this “sandblasted” finish is forever).

Exquisite Cherry Wood Box
Every BOMApen comes in a custom cherry wood box that also serves as a desk cradle and display. Inside, a sensuous viscoelastic foam holds and protects the pen and endcaps.
